Heating System Design

Heating System Design – it’s an add-in for the Autodesk Revit software for the automated heating system calculations and design. This Revit extension evaluates and calculates heating power for a room and offers proper heating elements (by power) from available families in project. There is an option to define the library (manufacturer, type, size or connection method) to use. KERMI, PURMO, DEMRAD, DELONGHI, DECORAL, GORGIEL, ROFIX, HEATLINE, VOGEL&NOOT heating elements libraries are prepared. After all offered heating elements are reviewed and approved, just with one button click those elements can be inserted into the project model by defined insertion rule: insert under windows, insert on external wall and etc.


How engineers used to work?


It takes a lot of time and other resources to project heating system. Manual (Excel) needed heating power calculations must be done. All information must be entered by hand from project documentation because it is not related to project model. And if any corrections to project are made, all that work must be done newly.

 

If we finally get needed heating power for a room, we must choose proper heat element. Apart from various types, and connections, their power depends on size, fluid and inside temperatures, so to take most suitable is quite complicated.

 

Finally, then we have proper radiators for all rooms, we need to insert them to project to specific places. It is quite simple then the project isn’t big. What if it has 100 or 1000 rooms? And you need to draw them by hand? It will take a lot of time. And if it needs to be corrected or changed?

  • Instantly calculate rooms’ rated specific heat loss, by evaluating:
         • Building seals of individual room and heat loss through it. 
         • Outside air temperature.
         • Inside air temperature by individual room.
         • Corrections due to high, wind, type of heating devices.
         • Heat loss due to air ventilation.
  • Calculate needed thermal power for a room
  • Change fluid supply and return temperature.
  • Choose proper heating elements from offered elements list.
  • Automatically insert heating elements to room, floor or all building by special defined insertion rule.
  • Make project corrections and gets results in moment.
  • All heat system information, calculations are related to the Revit project model or its separate phases or variants.
  • All calculations based on European Union directives and standards.
