Software provides easiest way to exchange collected data between GPS and AutoCAD. All you need are two buttons: simply connect your GPS receiver to computer and using “Download data from GPS receiver” function collect points from GPS and upload those using “Export to AutoCAD” function. That’s it! All you collected data now are uploaded to AutoCAD software.

For most Garmin and Magellan devices you won’t need to configure the software – it will automatically detect the unit and will set the parameters used by Converter. In other case you still have possibility to configure GPS communication parameters manually to use exchange algorithms in easy way.

• Download and upload Points, Tracks and Routes from / to GPS receiver

In most common way, points you would like to import or export will be as Waypoints stored in GPS. Depending on task you probably need collect the data in Track or Route format. Fell free – you will synchronize it with Converter as simple as Waypoints.

• Transform between coordinate systems

GPS / CAD Converter has big database of built in coordinate systems, ellipsoids and geodetic datum. You can easily pick up one that fits your region. Nevertheless you can create your own coordinate system and convert collected data by the task’s requirements. So in few steps you can easily convert geographic coordinates between different coordinate systems, no matter if the projection and datum was picked up from provided list or it was created by your own.

• Manage active points, view them on map, calculate route between them

Software allows you to make various operations with active points, which were downloaded or imported from file GPS/CAD. You can easy edit points attributes, insert new point, remove point from the list. Also other needful non basic features are provided, such as calculate distance and azimuth from active point, calculate route between selected points (the route will be provided in Google Maps or Virtual Earth web map engines) and represent selected points on map (using Google, Yahoo and Virtual Earth web map engines).

• Import and export from/to most common file formats – Text, Excel, ESRI Shape, GPX, DXF, KML and other

If there will be a case that you won’t be able get GPS (your colleague who is collecting data is located in other country), there always will be an option to import data from files, most common format files. Consumer GPS software supports Text, Excel and GPX formats, so collected data will be easily provided by email, flash or others non direct GPS formats to you – person which will work with Converter. Also those import and export algorithms are used to exchange data with GPS receivers which can’t be directly connected to Converter.

• Improved GPS communication protocol interface

For the most Garmin and Magellan GPS devices you won’t need to configure communication protocol. Software will do it automatically when GPS will be connected to PC and Converter will be started. Nevertheless for some GPS devices which can’t be directly connected to Converter there will be provided instructions how manually import collected data using simple wizard.

• GPS to CAD data exchange in free coordinate system

In some cases it’s possible that collected data will be in unknown and not predefined coordinate system. If custom parameters of coordinate’s system also won’t be known you will be able to exchange collected data between CAD software without using any coordinate system. But please note that upload data to GPS won’t be possible using free coordinate system except if GPS will use same not predefined coordinate system.

• Live data collecting in CAD software using Converter

This new feature will allow collect data directly to CAD software using Converter. This function will be used to optimize engineers job who work in a field using CAD software, laptops and tablet PCs. In additional the information about GPS fix, satellites signal, speed and heading will be provided for better accuracy.
